Kissing Daddy |
7:30am - we finally get out of bed and come downstairs for breakfast. Mommy makes Maya a waffle with her favorite fruit on the side - strawberries & grapes! Maya happily gobbles it all up!
8:00am - After breakfast, we head into the office / present room so Maya can open a few more birthday presents. She gets a cute catepillar & puzzle from her friends John & Henry Drapeau, and a CD player and CDs from Mommy & Daddy (Daddy makes some crack about 80's boomboxes, but as soon as that music is on Maya starts dancing away and he agrees it was a good present).
9:30am - Playtime!! Maya loves playing in the backyard. Her 2 favorite things to do are swing in her beautiful swingset, and play in her little house. She stands in the door and will play peek-a-boo for hours if you let her!
11am - GrandUmma, GrandAbba, Mommy, Daddy & Maya get in the car and head over to Wellesley college. The day is a little cloudy, but still nice for a stroll along the pretty campus. Maya falls asleep in her stroller though, so GrandUmma & Mommy walk all the way to Blue Ginger for lunch, while Daddy & GrandAbba drive there. Guess who go there first? The girls!!
12:30 - We're sitting outside of Blue Ginger, enjoying a yummy lunch. Mommy got fish tacos, Daddy got curry. I got bites of each!
2:00 - back home, time to say good bye to GrandUmma and GrandAbba. It was a fun visit, and we're so glad we'll see them again in a few months in Bermuda! When Daddy takes them to the airport, Maya and Mommy play the tower game (where Maya puts all the tower building blocks in the tv stand, one by one, and arranges them. Hmm, where does she get that from?)
3:30 - Daddy comes home and we think about taking a family nap, but Maya is much too squirmy and excited. So while Daddy sleeps, Mommy & Maya play in her special play room. We keep the lights off and use the ladybug stars to guide us. Maya is a little scared of it at first, but eventually she realized how cool it is!
4:30 - Music Class! What a treat for Maya - both Mommy and Daddy come to class with her! We spend the next 45 minutes singing and dancing and looking generally silly, while Maya walks around the class room talking to her friends, hugging the teacher, and exerting some independence. It was so funny for us to watch her - she is so charasmatic and such a little social butterfly! While she played, Mommy made some new friends too - who live in the neighborhood. Hooray!
6:00 - back home, we feed our little girl her birthday dinner - mini tacos. Then we give her a huge slice of cake (which will eventually come back to haunt us - see 8pm below).
6:30 - Mommy & Daddy take Maya for a short jog, and Maya falls asleep in the stroller. This will also play a key role in the 8pm activity. But Mommy & Daddy felt good to get some activity, and check out some of the huge houses on Abbott Street.
8:00 - Maya's bedtime! Only someone is overtired and hyper... not a good combination
8:30 - Mommy vows that she will not let Maya cry herself to sleep on her birthday. So she is laying on the ground holding her hand, singing "You are my sunshine" over and over and over
8:45 - Daddy questions Mommy's approach
8:50 - Poor baby girl just needs to sleep, but she doesn't want her birthday to end! So she's fighting it so hard...
9:00 - after stroking Maya's hair 100 times (she counted), Mommy finally creeps out of the room - Birthday girl asleep!
Despite the disatrous bedtime, it was still such a special day. I was so glad both of us stayed home with her - a new birthday tradition! I know Maya felt all the love from her family and friends the last few days, she's a very lucky little girl!
Thanks everyone for making her birthday so special!
