3 months old!!

They grow up so fast... Maya is 3 months old today, and she continues to amaze me on a daily basis with all the new things she's learning to do. She's starting to put a lot of things together in these past few days, its so fun to watch her grow!

First, she realized that those hands that flutter around her face are her own, and even more she learned she can do things with them. Some examples are:

1. She is actually able to play with her toys now! Before, I would hold things in front of her and she wouldn't pay much attention, but over the weekend, she was able to really interact with a toy that Grandma bought for our trip to Maryland (more on that later). Check her out in this video:

2. She's starting to suck on her fingers! We kinda figured she would be a thumb-sucker when all the ultrasound pics showed her doing it in the womb, but she just recently learned how to do it outside of the belly. It's so fun to watch her stick each of her fingers into her mouth, but the best is when she gets the thumb in there. I haven't been able to get a picture of it yet, but here is one of her with a bunch of fingers in the mouth.

3. She's also using her hands more to play with her pacifier - sometimes she takes it out and turns it on the side to gnaw at it that way. I mentioned this to the teacher at our Baby Class who said it's a sign she's a good manipulator. Uh oh!!

Besides developing these skills, Maya has also really improved her gross motor this past week. She's now able to hold her head AND chest up during tummy time, which has led to a really funny new trick - turning over!

You can see just how big she's gotten in her 3 month old pictures. She's able to sit up all by herself now (without a bunch of props!), those owls had better watch out!

We had a great time in Maryland this past weekend, celebrating a bunch of birthdays (Marcus 8/29, Clara 9/21, Richard 10/3, Mike 10/18, Samantha 10/27) - in total we were celebrating 163 years of life. Luckily Mom decided not to put all those candles on the cake - she really would have started a fire this year!

Maya loved meeting her uncle, aunt and cousins. Here's a shot of all the granddaughters:
The next generation of Laich Girls! And none of them are blonde!
It wasn't even Maya's birthday, but she was still a princess at the party!

We got to see Erin too, who got her the most appropriate gift!
Nope, doesn't fit me. I guess I'll give it to Maya!
Maya did great on her first plane rides, we're ready for more adventures!

Fall in New England

It's official, it's fall in New England! And in typical Boston fashion, fall arrived something like this:
Thursday, 12pm - Hot, sticky, humid, 80 degrees.
Thursday, 1pm - a sudden downpour lasting about 5 minutes.
Thursday, 2pm - A cool breeze comes in, bringing the temp down to the 60s, where they have stayed ever since.

Yesterday was so gorgeous, bright blue skies, crisp fall air. After an hour at stroller strides, we decided to take Maya on one of our favorite fall activities - apple picking! She loved the scenery and watching mommy climb on ladders to get apples. And it was the first time she faced out in the Bjorn!

The only downside to fall is Maya's first cold. It's not bad, but she's a little sniffly and she's had some major sleep regression. But I'm sure this is just temporary, and she's still in good spirits most of the day.

Maya is also becoming a famous name down in Georgia, thanks to GrandUmma and GrandAbba's new license plates!

Next week - Laich birthday celebrations in Maryland, we can't wait!

Maya's Exciting Week (in pictures)

Monday

Marc's 27th birthday. We took him to Franklin Cafe for a yummy dinner and gave him his presents, which included a chance to hold me!
 Tuesday
I started to discover my hands - they are so tasty!!

Wednesday
It was my last day of our ISIS baby class, so we took some time to get a class picture. Poor Annie, she didn't like laying on the ground...
My new friends

I loved listening to the teacher's songs, she had the coolest NY accent.
Thursday
My BFF Ella came over to play in the afternoon. You would never know she's 2 months older than me!

Later that night, I went to my first Red Sox game. It was against the Yankees, not too shabby!

I love the bleachers, who needs fancy seats?
Friday
Mommy and Daddy took me to their favorite summer place - Block Island! They were so excited to show me the beach, they couldn't help but kiss me.

Uncle Eddie came with us too, we got to celebrate his birthday with him!
Saturday

Me and Mommy spent some QT in the morning, getting  all dressed up for our day on Block Island

Mommy and Daddy showed me and Eddie one of their favorite hiking spots. They look so happy on the Island!

We stopped for a little picnic lunch (for me at least!)

Uncle Eddie putting those big muscles to work pushing me in my stroller!

After the hike, we decided to cool off with a visit to the Oar for mudslides and a lobster roll

What a beautiful day! I love the view of all the boats behind us.

It was a little windy, Daddy was trying to protect my hairstyle!

Uncle Eddie gave daddy a run for his money at Cornhole...

But ultimately Daddy won, stealing the Cornhole title away from Mommy (she's still the Bocce Ball champ though!)

I got all dressed up in my Island attire for a big night on the town!

Later that night, we went to see Christmas in September. It was so cool, all the boats were decorated with Christmas lights!

Sunday
I fell asleep on the ferry ride home, it was such a busy week!
