Big Girl Bed!
T-minus 3 weeks until baby #2 comes! Maya got some practice this morning when our friend came over with her little baby - Maya loved kissing him and playing peek a boo!
We also decided to transition Maya to her big girl bed a little early - we figured it would be easier to do it now than after the baby comes. Like most things, Maya transitioned like a champ. Its been more than a week and she loves her new bed, and never gets up in the middle of the night like I feared!
Here are some cute pics Gloria took of her in the bed.

Missed Opportunity...
I was half-tempted to enroll Maya in a baby modeling company when she was first born - I've heard that they're really into the Half Asian these days, and thought we could make some extra money for all the things I wanted to buy her! But I never really did anything about it...
Well, after another amazing photo shoot with Gloria, I have to wonder if the world is missing out on Maya as a Baby Model. I mean, how much does she sell this look?

Fun Weekend and Baby #2 Update!
Well, its officially spring in Wellesley, but you would never know based on the snow covering the ground at 16 Paine Street. Here is a picture of Maya from last week in the backyard.
But we've been making the best of it, and the weather warmed up a bit this past weekend, so hopefully it will be gone in a few days.
Maya had a very social weekend, starting with the grand opening of Kidville in Wellesley, where she played with her BFFs Ella, August & Sophie. The place was too much of a zoo to take pictures, but here are some other pics of her with her BFFs in the past few weeks:
I don't have any pics of Sophie right now, but she basically looks just like Maya!
After the Kidville opening, we chaperoned Maya & August on their first date at Bertucci's. Both kids were amazingly well behaved, and Richard and I were able to catch up with August's parents, Brian & Corinne. Who knows, we might all be family some day!
On Sunday, Daddy had to go do a fantasy baseball draft all morning and then ran errands in the afternoon, so I got to spend the day with Maya Papaya. We had a great swim class in the morning, then went to Starbucks for our treats (latte for Mommy, Banana Walnut Bread for Maya). We went to an Easter Egg hunt at the Wellesley Rec center, but Maya got a little freaked out by the giant bunny. It looked something like this:
I can't say I blame her, it was a little freaky. But then we found this amazing playroom that was filled with mats and lots of different foam blocks, ramps, tunnels, etc. Maya LOVED it, she was the youngest one by far but she got right in there with the big kids and played on the "Pirate Ship", jumped off towers, and dove head first into the tunnel.
Then she STILL had energy to burn, so we played in the snow-covered playground for another 20 minutes, Maya is getting so confident now - she climbs all over the playground by herself and loves to do the slide solo.
We came home for lunch and nap, and then by the time she woke up, Daddy was home! Maya wanted "More Outside", so we walked to Whole Foods and played with some ducks in the field. She didn't want to come in, so she and Daddy went to another playground while Mommy came home and colored Easter Eggs and made Maya some chilled pea soup (super yummy).
After all this excitement, Maya slept great last night - no crying even though Mommy put her to bed - I guess that's the secret!
As for Baby #2., he is an active little guy!! He has been moving a lot lately, but my suspicion is that he is positioned sideways and not head down. Hopefully I'm wrong - we'll find out Thursday in my next appointment. His nursery is as good as it can get right now - we won't be moving the crib in there until after he's a few months old, I am not looking forward to transitioning Maya to a big girl bed! But his room looks really cute, and Daddy is thrilled we didn't have to repaint it! We're still finalizing names (not that we'll tell anyone until he's born!) - and I'm hoping that in these next few weeks it will start to sink in that we're going to have a newborn again! I am a little terrified of the sleep deprivation, but hopefully he will be a good eater and sleeper. Fingers crossed!
That's all for now!

Christmas!!! Part II: Wellesley
After a fun filled Xmas in GA, we came back home on Wednesday, with all the gifts that were too large to take down to Columbus - and there were A LOT! We pretended that it was Xmas Even on Wed and when Maya woke up (after 12 hrs of sleep!!!) on Thu, we went down for Fake Xmas - complete with homemade waffles and presents!
All in all, it took about 3 hrs for Maya to open all her numerous gifts, with all her "wow"s and playing with her gifts as she opened them... she got some amazing stuff too - more books, more puzzles, a new kitchen set (with shopping cart), a cool new wagon, and lots of new animals. We're also trying to make sure she's getting ready for Eggy #2, so introducing lots of babies and dogs - Maya is SO nurturing - she always is asking for her "baby" or "doggies" and carries them around everywhere.
We've had an amazing 10 days or so with family, but we've really enjoyed being with Maya - she's growing up and changing so much every day and it's such a blast to watch her grow into a big girl - she even peed on her potty for the first time - check out the video on YouTube!
We also are getting our first real snowstorm in 12 months (crazy for Boston)... so we took the opportunity to take Maya sledding (just on our porch)...
Only a few more days before heading back to work - hope you all have a wonderful New Years!
99% of these gifts were for Maya... |
Opening gifts is fun!!! |
More books & puzzles! This is a doggie! |
More animals, a castle, and lego-style blocks (daddy is too cheap for real Legos (r)) |
I have my own kitchen now! No more waiting for the parents to cook me fruit! |
Hmmm... plastic stoveware - not so sure how this is going to work... |
I'm preparing for a career hawking kitchenware on QVC! "It's no stick!" |
Or a career as the next Julia Child - don't I look cute in my apron from grand-umma? |
A talking & walking doggie! Wow!!! |
I'll just add it to my collection of dogs... |
I love babies! I can't wait for my real little bro to arrive! I'm practicing with these for now - changing & putting him to bed in my awesome baby furniture from Grandma & Grandpa! |
I'm gonna love my little brother so much - and kiss him all over! Mmmmm-wah! |
Grandma & Grandpa also got me this sweet new ride that conveniently can carry me & my little bro! |
and the parents got this sweet new ride for me & the li'l guy... we'll be so styling in Wellesley. |

Christmas!!! Part 1: Georgia
Finally, the moment we've been waiting for all year - Christmas!! This year, Maya really got into the Christmas spirit, she wore adorable Christmas outfits for weeks, she helped wrap presents, and she loved looking at Christmas Trees all lit up - saying "WOW!" each time she saw one. Sadly, Mommy, Daddy & Maya all had various illnesses in the weeks leading up to the holidays. Mommy with a cold that turned into a nasty sinus infection (first and hopefully last ever). Daddy got a 12-hour stomach bug from something he ate, and Maya caught Mommy's cold. So the weeks leading up to the holidays were a little rough. But luckily everyone was better just in time for vacation, which made the whole thing even better!
First up, Maya's first trip to GrandUmma and GrandAbba's house in Columbus, GA. We arrived late on Saturday night, so instead of driving out to Columbus late, we decided to stay at the St. Regis for a night, courtesy of Daddy's amazing friend Trent. Mommy and Maya crashed hard on the bed as soon as we got there, but Daddy and Uncle Eddie had a chance to catch up over beer and pizza.
Then on Sunday, we were off to Columbus! We had an AMAZING Christmas brunch at the country club, with a special guest of honor - Scary Claus. I mean Santa Claus. He was a little scary though.
When we got back home, we got to have some play time.
Christmas Eve started with a rainy morning. Mommy, Daddy & Maya decided to go explore Columbus, and ended up at a really cool indoor game room for kids. Maya loved playing Skee Ball, and she collected all of Daddy's tickets from playing basketball.
Later that night, we went to Umma and Abba's church to hear the kids choirs. But unfortunately, Maya was too squirmy and spent most of the time outside.
Finally, nighttime comes and we get to OPEN PRESENTS!!! Maya had fun digging through her stocking...
Christmas Morning!
We drove back into Atlanta in the afternoon, and Mommy, Daddy and I went to the Georgia Aquarium for a few hours. Maya LOVED seeing all the fish, we heard a lot of "WOW"s then too. She even saw her first 3-D movie! Then we all head out to a Korean restaurant for dinner.
