12 days old!

Oh my Maya (that's one of Grandma's favorite expressions), you're already 12 days old! And we've barely blogged since you've been home. I guess we have been a little busy, figuring out how you work. But we've been keeping track of all your "firsts", and you've had a lot already! Here's just a few:

1. June 28th: First car ride - Driving home from the hospital, Daddy drove extra safe!
2. June 29th: First doctor appointment - Daddy thought you were going to weigh the same as when you left the hospital, since you're such a good eater. But like all new babies, you had lost a little weight, ending up at 6lbs, 11 oz. Nothing to worry about though. Dr. Shang kept telling us how beautiful and perfect you were - she's right!
3. June 30th: First trip to Target! We've been another few times since then too...
4. July 1st: First time meeting Grandma and Grandpa! We got frozen yogurt and stopped by the Volpes to say hello.
5. July 2nd: First softball game! We watched Daddy, Uncle Marc and Grandpa play in a pick-up league - they won!
6. July 3rd: First hike - World's End in Hingham
7. July 4th: First 4th of July! We went to Prashant and Kalpana's to watch the fireworks. You slept right through them though!
8. July 6th: First trip to Wrentham. You shopped till you dropped! (which didn't take very long...)

Maya has been such a good baby, she's sleeping really well now, even giving mommy 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep last night! I was a little nervous she didn't wake up sooner to eat, but at the doctor today she weighed 7 lbs, 11 oz - which is a significant weight gain! So we know she's getting enough to eat.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from Maya's  first 12 days of life.

Immediately post-birth - doesn't Mommy look amazing considering she pushed for 3 hrs?!

3D ultrasound pics!

So from the day of our first ultrasound, Richard has been asking our doctor for a 3D ultrasound. We've been told time and again that they don't have the 3D capabilities in the office we go to.

Well yesterday I'm in for my routine weekly appointment,  where they monitor my amniotic fluid and every now and then get a read on the baby's weight (last week she was 6 pounds, 4 ounces).  I don't even get super excited for these ultrasounds anymore, since usually it only takes about 3-4 minutes and mostly what they do is look for the black splotches on the screen that represent my fluid. I'll occasionally ask them to confirm she's still a girl (yep!), but otherwise it's pretty routine. But yesterday, the technician finishes up her fluid measurements and then casually asks, "Would you like a 3-d shot of the face?"

OF COURSE!!!

It was so cool - I've never seen anything like it. She was so real and human, it just really made me realize I have a human being growing in there! And she's so adorable!! The tech said she has a petite face and delicate features, but all I see when I look at these pictures is the cheeks! Does it remind you of anyone?

Nursery complete! Full-term! Countdown is on...

So, after multiple bedskirts, different sheet sets, several versions of storage cubes... we've finally finished the perfect (we think) nursery for our little eggy!

As of week 37, Lisa's now considered "full-term" so I've been instructed to no longer travel, keep my cellphone on all the time... we've installed our car seats (fun fact - did you know that fewer than 1% of people install them correctly?!  We did!).  We also made the big trip to Costco and pretended like we're NEVER going to be able to shop again.  Felt like we were expecting the end of the world!  Anyway, I think we're as prepared as we can possibly be... until eggy comes, then it will seem like we're not prepared at all.

We're very excited to have both our parents coming in mid-July and late-July...

Full Term!!!

Monday was an important milestone - I am officially full term now! That means if Eggy was born tomorrow, she would be fully "baked" and not need any special medical attention. Woo hoo!! Its getting so exciting now, I literally can't walk down the hallway at work without getting lots of comments and oohs and ahhs, all of which I love and is making me even more ready to meet little Eggy!

I had a doctor's appointment last Thursday, where they told me I was already 1cm dilated (totally normal for 36 weeks, you can be 1 cm dilated for weeks). I go back in tomorrow morning so I'll be curious to see if it's developed any further.

It's finally getting hot in Boston, and I can see now why they say you don't want to be pregnant in the summer! But we're enjoying being outside, we took a nice walk on Sunday through the Arnold Arboretum and laid in the grass in the sun for a while. It was heavenly. I can't wait to do it with Eggy! And this weekend Courtney and Aaron are in town for Franny's wedding, so I'm looking forward to seeing them.

I really want Eggy to come right around her due date, so if anyone has any suggestions on how to make that happen, let me know!

T-minus1-month to go time! (Plus wk 36 baby bump pics)

Alright - starting tomorrow, we're in June which is actually the month our li'l eggy is due (Jun 27th to be exact).  This past wkend we toured Beth Israel hospital where we'll be delivering - the only thing I'm hoping (outside of Lisa & eggy being safe) is that there isn't a Sox game when Lisa goes into labor - it's right near the ball park!  Yikes!  Anyway, the facility looks pretty darn nice - we get our own private room and are allowed to stay for 48 hrs after delivery (assuming all goes well) - and can order whatever we want to order (at least Lisa can).

This past wkend, two of our close friends gave birth to their first little boy - John Louis Volpe - she was due on Mon, but the baby came a few days early (on Fri), leaving them the wkend to spend in the hospital.  Most impressively, they were out and about in the South End on Memorial Day walking li'l John around the 'hood.  We love our urban parent friends!  Our li'l eggy will have lots of friends for play dates when she graces us with her presence!

Week 36 baby bump pics below - it's really been amazing how well Lisa has stayed in shape!  Although I think she did her last spin class on Mon - I think now that she's in the last month, she'll do less intense cardio (walking, elliptical, etc) until the big day... you seriously can't tell she's preggo from the front!

An early birthday wish to dad / abba - 76 years young and soon-to-be grandpa/abba!

Love, R&L

Week 32 and 34 Bump Pictures... and Eggy Update!

Week 32 (in my pjs!)

Week 34
Week 34

We were pretty busy the last few weeks, and haven't had a chance to post bump pictures in a while. The belly is pretty big, but luckily most of my weight gain seems to be going straight to the baby. Hopefully should make it easier to take off!

As for what we've been up to, first, we had our amazing baby shower weekend, which was so much fun. It was so nice to be surrounded by such wonderful and supportive family and friends. And Eggy got a lot of really cute gifts!

Last weekend I was a bridesmaid in a wedding in New York, and this weekend we had another wedding in Long Island. I can't wait until I can actually drink at weddings again! But we still had fun at both, and I even managed to get out on the dance floor (in heels!).

I had another ultrasound last week, and found out that Eggy has hair! Apparently a lot of it! It's not a huge surprise, given how much hair both Richard and I have. Luckily, that old wives tale about hair and heartburn does not seem to be true in my case. Eggy is also weighing in at about 5 lbs, 4 oz, which is the 42nd percentile. Nice and healthy!

I'm excited for the long weekend coming up, we're going to use it to finalize things in the nursery. I made some last minute decor changes, but definitely am keeping the owl tree! Here are some pics of us putting it up:

Eggy Shower & Mom's Day - HUGE success

So eggy's baby shower was a HUGE success - thanks to Mom 2, Danielle, Vickie Hsi, Erin, and even Marcus... so thank you all - not only for helping to organize, but also just being a part of it!  The venue, food and most importantly, the people were perfect - and we spent most of this afternoon sorting thru the amazing stuff we got for eggy!  It was also great to celebrate mother's (as well as soon-to-be-mother's) day with our moms and grandma kurgan.  We had an amazing North End dinner at Lucca on Saturday night (which included Eddie as a surprise guest - after a whirlwind tour of Provence and Vegas), followed by a spectacular brunch at Gaslight on Sunday morning.  It all ended too soon, but we'll be seeing many of you soon enough - in the meantime, enjoy some of my favorite pics from the weekend:
